It’s an exciting time when you’re about to close on the purchase of your new home. To ensure that everything goes smoothly, I advise my clients to schedule a couple of revisits to the property before the closing date. There are a few reasons why this is important. Firstly, it gives you the chance to show the home to your extended family. Additionally, if you’re thinking of doing any renovations, it’s a good idea to take contractors through during the revisit, so they can assess and provide you with an accurate estimate for the work. You can also take measurements for things like furniture or window coverings. This will save you time when you move in. At the same time, it’s important to keep an eye out for anything that might be damaged, in other words to ensure the property is in a similar state of repair as at the time of the offer being accepted. During your final revisit, which is best to be done in the week of closing, you should check the chattels that are part of the accepted offer. Make sure they are still present and are in working order. Hope this helps. You take care and talk soon.
